PORTLAND, ORE. — Chefs from 42 Oregon dining establishments gathered at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts here last month to create Chefs’ Night Out, the city’s major charity culinary experience, which benefits the Oregon Food Bank, Sisters of the Road Cafe, St.Vincent de Paul’s Food Train and the Klamath/Lake Counties Food Bank.

Seven new restaurants participated in this year’s event, which donated 100 percent of its ticket sales directly to agencies that either feed the hungry or work to eliminate the root causes of hunger. They included Avalon, Cafe Azul, In Good Taste, Joel Palmer House, Paragon, Stephanie Inn and Tina’s.
