SkyeTek Inc. has created a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader–the SkyeRead M1-Mini–designed to connect to Crossbow Technology’s MICA2DOT “smart dust” sensor network mote. With active two-way smart tags, the MICA2DOT, operating in hard-to-reach locations, monitors and records temperature and environmental data. It’s also used to create smart badges and can be tailored for wearable computing. SkyeRead extends local RFID read/write capability to Crossbow’s wireless sensor network (smart dust) technology.
