Australian architects score at Wembley

Architects from Australia’s largest sports architecture firm, Bligh Lobb Sports Architecture of Brisbane, are among designers selected to create a new Wembley Stadium.

Bligh Lobb is part of a multi-national joint venture team chosen to renew the legendary home of English soccer. England is bidding to hold the 2006 World Soccer Cup. The final would be at the new Wembley if London wins the bid.

It is anticipated the new Wembley will have a seating capacity of at least 80,000 and serve as Britain’s national stadium as well as soccer headquarters.

Bligh Lobb designed the A$600 million Stadium Australia, the main stadium for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
