Hilton Food Group to start meat packing – Company News – Hilton Food Group to operate meat packing plant for ICA Ahold – Brief Article

The Hilton Food Group has reportedly been-appointed to operate a Swedish meat packing plant that Swedish-Dutch food chain ICA-Ahold is planning to build shortly. The ICA board is expected to start building the meat packing plant so it can be up and running in 2004.

The Hilton Food Group is one of the world leading operators of such businesses and is already servicing Ahold’s outlets in the Netherlands and Tesco’s in the UK.

Erland Bjorn, deputy managing director of ICA-Handlarna, said the services ICA was requesting could not be met by the players already operating in the Swedish meat market.

“Not to these quantities. We want to offer this to all our 1 800 outlets. And we will be able to offer a better and wider range of products. At the same time, it will be more cost-efficient to us and more value to the consumers,” Bjorn said.
