Seattle interior designer to speak at International Interior Design


Seattle interior designer Rysia Suchecka will speak on Kindness in Design at a Jan. 15, educational forum presented by the Oregon chapter of the International Interior Design Association Oregon.

The forum will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Governor Hotel, 611 S.W. 10th Ave. in Portland.

Suchecka, a partner with the Seattle architecture firm of NBBJ, will focus her presentation on the relationship between design and the way people live, including ways to approach health-care design.

Suchecka has been with NBBJ since 1980. She began her education at the Polish Academy of Art and moved to the United States in 1971. She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental interior design from Pratt University in 1973. Her work has been widely recognized in the United States and Europe, through numerous awards and publications She was inducted into the Interior Design Magazine Hall of Fame in 1998.

Tickets for her Portland appearance are $15 for IIDA members, $20 for nonmembers and $7 for students.
