Velocity Group Acquires Stanford Transportation Group; New San Francisco Office Links Velocity To Asia-Pacific
WASHINGTON — The Velocity Group, a leading Washington, D.C.-based aviation consulting firm, has acquired San Francisco-based Stanford Transportation Group, giving Velocity an increased presence in the burgeoning Asia-Pacific marketplace, where STG has been a fixture for more than 20 years.
At the same time, STG’s President, Gerald Bernstein, becomes a Partner in Velocity, joining Douglas Abbey and Michael Miller as equal shareholders. STG Senior Economist Claire Starry becomes Velocity’s Senior Economist. Bernstein has established expertise in business strategy development for aerospace industry clients, forecasting aircraft demand and analysis of the economics of air services.

STG, founded in 1995, has worked with such major players as Agusta; Bombardier; The Carlyle Group; Honda; Mitsubishi, Kawasaki and Fuji Heavy Industries; NASA (NCAM/SATS); New Piper Aircraft; The Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies; and various U.S. State Governments. Prior to co-founding STG, Bernstein was director of the commercial aviation and aerospace program at SRI International, where clients included Airbus, Boeing, Gulfstream, P&WC, IATA, FAA, and Singapore Airlines. Bernstein is Chairman of the U.S. National Research Council’s Transportation Research Board Aviation Economics and Forecasting Committee.
