HARTFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 18, 2002

The first-ever Universal Studios Monsters(TM) instant lottery game will scare away consumer apathy later this month when the Virginia Lottery’s “Monster Money” goes on sale, MDI Entertainment, Inc. (OTC BB: LTRY) announced today.

Universal Studios has granted an exclusive license to MDI for classic horror film icons including Frankenstein’s Monster, Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Dracula, The Mummy, Phantom of the Opera and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. The license is for lottery games, promotions and advertising.

“Monster Money is a whimsical way to put even more fun into all the things that fall brings to Virginia,” said Virginia Lottery Executive Director Penelope W. Kyle. “These monster characters bring back lots of movie memories for generations of TV and movie viewers,” she added.

The Virginia Lottery’s “Monster Money” will be a worldwide first when it launches September 24. The game includes three million tickets priced at $2 each and is being printed by Pollard Banknote.

“For 70 years these horror film icons have defined the boundaries of monsterdom and dominated everything from nightmares to Halloween. The stars of the horror film classics are a scary combination of fun and nostalgia. And that makes this property a sure hit with lottery players,” said Steven Saferin, President and CEO of MDI Entertainment.

In addition to cash prizes of up to $20,000, Monster Money will give lottery players a second chance to win prizes in three drawings. Three Grand Prize winners will enjoy watching their collection of classic Universal Studios Monsters movies on a big screen TV and home theater system. Entrants will also compete for 720 Monster Prize Packs featuring video collections, tee shirts and other official Universal Monsters memorabilia.

MDI will provide the Lottery with a Second Chance Bonus Zone(TM) web site for the game that gives players the option of submitting entries over the Internet instead of mailing them in.

The Virginia Lottery has maximized its instant ticket sales with a wide variety of MDI licensed games including Harley-Davidson(R), Elvis Presley(R), Wheel of Fortune(R), NASCAR(R) Drivers, Bonanza Bingo(R), Jacks or Better(R) and Star Trek(R).

MDI is a global leader in licensed lottery games and promotions. Lottery game themes and ticket designs make prominent use of MDI’s widely recognized brands, cultural icons and celebrities through MDI’s exclusive brands licensing programs. In addition to cash prizes, official logo and nostalgic merchandise and memorabilia are selected by the lotteries for prize packages. Instant winners, and second chance winners from bonus drawings, can land the additional prizes with non-winning tickets and special entries, all adding extra value to the lottery tickets.

MDI lottery brand licenses and turnkey promotions provide lotteries with most of the labor intensive tasks that accompany mass market merchandise prize management and fulfillment, and secure, random drawings.

MDI’s services also include game and ticket design, merchandise prize fulfillment, management of second-and third-chance draws, fully-staffed customer service, coordination of winner travel & accommodations, staff training, advertising and marketing support, consumer research and Internet marketing and advertising.

The company’s portfolio of licensed lottery properties includes but is not limited to the NBA/National Basketball Association, Betty Boop(TM), Elvis Presley(R), I Love Lucy(R), Magic 8 Ball(R), FIFA World Cup(R) Soccer, Universal Studios Monsters(TM), SPAM(TM), The Hulk(TM), The Honeymooners(TM), Louisville Slugger(R), Pink Panther(TM), Wheel of Fortune(R), Jeopardy!(R), Harley-Davidson(R), The Hollywood Sign(R) and Hollywood Walk of Fame(R) Ray Charles(R), Hollywood Squares(R), TABASCO(R), Lionel(R), and race car drivers including Jeff Burton, Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, and Bill Elliott.

MDI has entered into a strategic business agreement with Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS). Scientific Games is one of the world’s largest suppliers of lottery games
