Trintech Launches World’s First ‘Virtual Credit Card’ for Simple and Secure Consumer Purchasing on the Internet

Trintech, a leading provider of secure electronic payment solutions, today announced the first one-click “virtual credit card” payment solution for Internet transactions. Trintech’s “ezCard” solution, an electronic version of a consumer’s plastic credit or debit card, resides on the consumer’s PC and auto-populates online merchant payment forms. Using ezCard improves convenience, security and speed of e-commerce transactions. Trintech’s technology for creating ezCards is NetIssuer — part of Trintech’s PayGate platform.
To activate their ezCards, consumers visit the card issuer’s secure Website and access their accounts by entering unique personal information, such as date of birth or PIN. Utilizing Trintech’s NetIssuer, the card issuer Website automatically downloads, installs and launches the ezCard on the consumer’s PC. The cardholder then chooses a personal password, shipping address, telephone number and e-mail address. The fully branded ezCard is then ready for use and resides in the system tray or as an icon on the desktop. The next time the cardholder makes a purchase, he or she simply drags the ezCard from the desktop to the merchant payment form and types in a personal password for verification. The ezCard automatically fills in the form, which the cardholder reviews and submits to complete the purchase. Safe and secure shopping is ensured by NetIssuer’s SSL encryption of payment card and address information.
Consumers benefit from increased security and convenience, but ezCards also have advantages for online merchants and card issuers. Merchants benefit from NetIssuer by dramatically reducing cardholder frustration during the purchasing experience. Jupiter Communications recently issued a report stating that 27 percent of e-commerce orders are abandoned before check-out because of the cumbersome payment process.
Payment card issuers can now directly facilitate e-commerce by using NetIssuer. An easy-to-implement solution, NetIssuer improves brand awareness via the cardholder’s PC.
