Corporate leaders debate business challenges and

explore the keys to successful business practices

The challenges facing Brazil’s major corporations are well known. Corporate management faces infrastructure bottlenecks, limited access to capital markets and a high tax structure. Overcoming such obstacles and concentrating on basic business principals is the focus of the annual Brazil Business Roundtable, debuting June 4th 2002 in Sao Paulo. The Roundtable, chaired by Michael Reid, Americas Editor for The Economist, will convene the country’s most prominent business leaders for a dialogue on implementing successful business strategies against existing business challenges.

Taking the format of an intense, one-day meeting, discussions at the Brazil Business Roundtable will center on best practices and business strategies for competing locally, regionally and globally in a climate of slow economic growth and political uncertainty. The best of Brazilian corporate leadership will address a range of ideas including best practices in corporate governance, leveraging technology for cost efficiencies and focusing on core competencies for competitive edge.

Roundtable presenters with share their experiences on transforming a business into a world-class organisation. Among companies represented at the Roundtable are senior executives of AT&T, BancBoston Capital, Banco Itau, Bank of America, BNDES, CEMIG, Coteminas, Datasul, KPMG, Petrobras, Sadia SA, Telefonica Sao Paulo, Unibanco Holdings, and Volkswagen.
