measure and validate IP networks that carry voice
Shomiti Systems, the technology leader in the distributed analysis, testing, and monitoring of mission-critical 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet networks, announced today the unveiling of its Surveyor 3.0 protocol analysis software that integrates support for 10/100/1000 Ethernet and 4/16 Mbps Token Ring. An upgraded version of is award winning Surveyor software, Surveyor 3.0 simplifies the task of troubleshooting local and distributed LAN segments and features an updated, easy-to-use filtering tool that creates multiple, powerful and flexible pre or post capture filters. Sophisticated filters along with the detailed and accurate Expert feature are the keys to quick detection and correction of even the most obscure network problems. From a single Surveyor 3.0 station, anywhere on the network, a Network Engineer may simultaneously monitor and analyze network performance over multiple switched or shared segments. Surveyor 3.0 also features an optional Multi-QoS plug-in that provides decodes of the H.323 protocol suite and Quality of Service (QoS) metrics for analyzing Voice over IP, teleconferencing and other multimedia applications.
In addition to the rich set of protocol decodes already in Surveyor, many new decodes including full 802.D VLAN and IP Sec protocols have been added. Shomiti’s optional Multi-QoS plug-in provides decodes of the H.323 protocol suite, and decodes of SIP, SGCP, MGCP, Cisco’s SSP, and multiple video codecs. With Surveyor 3.0 and Multi-QoS, users can test the performance of Voice Over IP (VoIP) gateways, and analyze multiple synchronous data streams by call and by channel. Leveraged by the existing full-line rate capture of Shomiti hardware, Multi-QoS turns a general-purpose protocol analyzer into an effective tool to measure Quality of Service (QoS), addressing one of the most critical issues in converging Datacom and Telecom industries. User set table threshold alerts on over 20 QoS metrics warn network engineers of potential problems before they impact network performance.
With the advent of multimedia on IP networks, it is very important to know what to measure, how to measure it, and to be able to measure it at full line rate capture.” said President and CEO Bill Shaw. ” Surveyor 3.0 and our new Multi-QoS plug-in gives network administrators better filtering and the latest and greatest decodes so they can effectively provision their Gigabit Ethernet and VoIP networks. It also allows current 10/100 customers to debug, provision and migrate towards gigabit at their own pace. “
Along with its optional Remote, Expert, Packet Blaster, and Multi-QoS Plug-In software modules, Surveyor 3.0 interoperates with all of Shomiti’s full-line-rate capture hardware analyzers: 10/100 Explorer, Century Media Module, Gigabit Explorer and Gigabit Analysis Module respectively. Even at full line rate with filtering and slicing fully enabled, Shomiti’s high performance, silicon accelerated hardware products never drop a packet during capture.
Product pricing for Surveyor 3.0 maintains Shomiti’s reputation as the industry’s price/performance leader with costs starting at only $1,495. Upgrades to Surveyor 3.0 will be free to Surveyor license holders who are covered by the Shomiti Software Subscription Service. Entitled customers may contact their Shomiti Sales representative for upgrade details.
Multi-QoS is a software module that requires Surveyor 3.0. Multi-QoS is offered at a list price of $3,500.
