Sharp Delivers NoteVision — Ultra Sleek, Compact, Multimedia LCD Projector for Mobile Presenters

MAHWAH, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 10, 1997–Sharp Electronics Corporation delivers the NoteVision, its slimmest, most compact, high performance multimedia LCD projector yet.

The NoteVision (XG-NV1U) has an extremely small footprint, only slightly larger than a piece of ledger paper, and an ultra compact design with a height at just under five inches. A light weight of 16.5 pounds, built-in carrying handle and sleek design will make the NoteVision the LCD projector of choice for presenters on-the-go.

Designed for mobility, the NoteVision sets a new standard for compact LCD projectors with 400-ANSI lumen brightness, SVGA (800 x 600) and full Macintosh (832 x 624) resolutions, built-in wireless mouse control and stereo audio at a highly competitive price.

Compatible with a wide range of all popular PC-based desktop systems, notebook and Macintosh computers including SVGA and Mac-16″, the XG-NV1U can also display XGA (1024 x 768) resolution with image compression.

“As more business people today discover the benefits of multimedia presentations, they are demanding a higher performance, a smaller, lighter unit, easier use and at a great price,” said Bruce Pollack, national marketing manager, LCD Products Group, Sharp Electronics Corporation.

The compact NoteVision measures about 10″ (width) by 4″ (height) by 15″ (length) allowing it to be easily stored in the overhead compartment or underneath the seat on a plane.

Sharp is launching the NoteVision with free Astound(R) software on CD-ROM through a fax-in promotion offer. Astound 4.0 is a highly popular, presentation software application that+s ideal for interactive presenting. Now, creating self-running product demos, information “kiosks,” or computer-based training is simpler and more powerful than ever.

The NoteVision is equipped with a 1:1.4 built-in manual zoom lens so users can adjust the screen size to suit their needs. Screen images can be projected from 40-inches to 300-inches (measured diagonally), useful for educational and large group presentations. For permanent installations, the NoteVision also can be mounted on the ceiling.

It has three 1.3″ polysilicon thin film transistor (TFT) active matrix LCD panels. With a 250-watt metal halide lamp working in unison with the three active matrix LCD panels (each containing 519,168 pixels), the XG-NV1U is able to produce crisp, bright and impressive data/video images with a resolution of 540 scan-doubled TV lines.

The unit also has a composite video input for standard NTSC, PAL and SECAM sources and an S-Video input for use with higher quality video sources.

The NoteVision XG-NVIU, which features a three year parts and labor limited warranty, is available now at a suggested list price of $7,995.
