CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 31, 2001

Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE) today announced that it has appointed Steven J. Hoffman as chief strategy officer, a new position. In this role, he will lead and evolve the company’s capability to provide insightful, effective strategic counsel to clients. Hoffman will work collaboratively with Sapient’s industry and discipline leaders to devise and implement the strategic insights that will enable clients to compete successfully. He will report to Executive Vice President Paul DiGiammarino.

“Sapient’s strength is in discovering and harnessing the new advantages that technologies can create for business,” said J. Stuart Moore, co-chairman and co-chief executive officer of Sapient. “In this increasingly competitive business environment, Steve will play a key role in stepping up our ability to help large global companies identify and implement those advantages that are most relevant to their business goals. We are very pleased to welcome him to Sapient.”

“Sapient brings broader range of perspectives to its strategy discipline — including brand, customer experience and technology as well as traditional strategy approaches and analytical tools — than what is typically available from traditional strategy consulting teams,” said Hoffman. “These perspectives let us identify a more comprehensive array of strategy options and evaluate these options more thoroughly, always bearing in mind what can actually be executed. When these strategic capabilities are combined with Sapient’s strong implementation capabilities, we are able to provide clients the competitive advantage they are seeking.”

Hoffman comes to Sapient with more than 20 years of strategy consulting experience. In leadership roles including managing director of Exchange Partners LLC, head of the strategy practice at CSC Index, and partner with Bain & Company, he has worked closely with senior executives at Fortune 500 companies on critical strategic issues. Most recently, Hoffman was president of Concrete Media, a company that helps new and existing organizations develop businesses online.
