Spacious VGA display panel lists scrolling transaction data

and customized advertising

R2 Corporation today introduced its RDisplay(TM) Technology Enabling Solution at the NRF 89th Annual Convention and Expo in New York City.

Designed to replace traditional, 2 x 20-character pole displays at the point of sale, RDisplay is a compact 16 shade gray-scale quarter VGA display panel with ample room for providing a virtual scrolling receipt including item detail, subtotals and totals of customer transactions as they are entered. It also accommodates text and bitmap images for displaying customized advertising messages between transactions, and operates in either a portrait or landscape orientation.

RDisplay represents the latest addition to R2’s RStore(TM) solutions portfolio designed to increase the functionality and useful life of retailers’ POS systems. Like all RStore solutions, RDisplay features RCore(TM) technology that enables ubiquitous connectivity with IBM legacy POS terminals and any other RS-232- enabled systems.

“RDisplay opens lucrative new opportunities for retailers of all types and sizes,” said Tom Kettell, vice president of marketing at R2. “For about the same cost as a traditional pole display that offers limited room for text, RDisplay supports multiple lines of moving text, giving customers the convenience and security of viewing item prices and descriptions as they’re entered.

“Equally important, RDisplay lets retailers reach the captive audience waiting in line with high-impact advertising messages,” Kettell said. “That’s a capability traditional pole displays simply do not offer.”

Other solutions in the RStore portfolio include the RPro(TM) Technology Enabling Solution and the RPrint(TM) Universal Print Share Device. RPro dramatically extends the functional life of legacy POS systems by making them fully compatible with the latest thermal printers and other peripherals on the market. RPrint(TM) allows two legacy POS systems to share a single thermal printer resulting in significant cost savings for the retailer.

“The RDisplay introduction is yet another example of R2’s commitment in providing retailers with practical and innovative point-of-sale solutions, as well as remove compatibility issues between their POS systems and the latest technology,” Kettell said. “Combined with our broad selection of new and quality reconditioned POS equipment, and our vast portfolio of service and integration solutions, R2 has truly become a one-stop POS resource for retailers with every need and every budget.”

R2 Corporation, based in Eagan, Minn., provides the point-of-sale marketplace with reconditioned and new systems and components from manufacturers including IBM, Epson, Symbol and others.

The company’s RStore(TM) family of products offers technology migration solutions that link the latest peripherals with existing POS systems. R2 also services POS equipment, offering retailers an extensive portfolio of customizable service solutions.
