Information They Need in a Variety of Languages
In an industry first, PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq: PSFT) today announced that it has partnered with Verity (Nasdaq: VRTY) to embed knowledge retrieval functionality in PeopleSoft 8, a new generation of pure Internet, best-in-class eBusiness applications.
Verity’s technology will enable PeopleSoft 8 customers to search the web in a variety of languages and find the information they need.
“PeopleSoft wanted to partner with a technology leader that has a proven track record,” said Peter Gassner, vice president and general manager of the PeopleTools technology division at PeopleSoft. “Search is a strategic component of any viable eBusiness solution. Verity is the de facto standard, having the most sophisticated, knowledge retrieval technology on the market.”
“Support of Asian languages makes Verity truly unique in the marketplace,” Gassner said.
Verity technology supports 22 languages, and is the only provider that supports complex Asian languages such as Chinese and Japanese.
PeopleSoft will embed Verity technology in all PeopleSoft 8 eBusiness applications, a new generation of pure Internet, best-in-class applications. PeopleSoft 8 is developed on the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture, the industry’s most powerful eBusiness platform enabling the deployment of enterprise applications using a thin HTML client and XML based-integration. The PeopleSoft Internet Architecture allows customers to access PeopleSoft applications from any platform supporting a web browser, and to cost effectively integrate PeopleSoft solutions with third-party software.
“PeopleSoft is the first major eBusiness vendor to embed search functionality into its core functionality,” said Verity president Anthony Bettencourt. We’re extremely pleased that PeopleSoft selected our proven search and linguistic technology to power all applications developed on the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture platform.”
