Path 1 Lifts Videoconferencing To a New Level
Business Editors & High-Tech Writers
SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 26, 2001
Path 1 Network Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:PNWK) (Frankfurt:PNT) today announced an innovative, stream-conditioning gateway that dramatically improves the performance of IP videoconferencing systems.
The EL1000 is intended to compensate for network impairments in LAN, MAN and WAN interconnections and enable the utilization of existing enterprise networks to support videoconferencing applications.
“The new Path 1 offering includes a compact, cost effective gateway and control software that greatly increases the quality of video conferencing systems by utilizing Path 1’s patented TrueCircuit(R) technology,” said Frederick Cary, president & CEO. “We believe that videoconferencing will greatly increase as the customer experience is enhanced. Our new product takes existing technologies and significantly improves real time video quality, resulting in a smooth and dynamic interactive session.”
Path 1’s patented TrueCircuit(R) Technology eliminates transmitted jitter and latency, while it manages transmissions through a unique packet shaping application based on industry standards. In addition to its new product, Path 1 offers integration services to assure the network is optimized for maximum performance.
The EL1000 was recently put to the test by linking various cross-country business campuses using off-the-shelf videoconferencing systems. The tests conclusively showed that the video could be carried in a T1 and frame relay network with high fidelity even in the presence of traffic sharing in the common links at the switches and routers. When the conditioning unit was removed, impairments were immediately observable.
