Government leaders from around the state will gather Tuesday, March 12 at the Wyndham Atlanta to hear from experts on homeland security and learn what information technology solutions are available to counter security challenges.

“We will give our government attendees an opportunity to see what other jurisdictions are dong in this area,” said Cathilea Robinett, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Government. “They will find out the latest and most advanced applications and procedures from industry solution providers.” On the necessity for cross-jurisdictional collaboration, Robinett says, “Cross agency and jurisdictional cooperation is a must to make homeland security a reality.”

Guest speakers at the conference will discuss information challenges and solutions, decision support, disaster recovery and leadership perspectives. Following the Atlanta event, Government Technology and the Center for Digital Government will continue this series of conferences, making stops in Philadelphia and Detroit.

Industry leaders from CDW-Government, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO), Cognos Corporation (Nasdaq: COGN), Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HWP), MapInfo Corporation (Nasdaq: MAPS), Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL), Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) and Veritas Software (Nasdaq: VRTS) are all major participants in the event.

“State and local governments are suddenly faced with a challenge that prior to September 11 was unimaginable,” said Darby Patterson, Editor-in-Chief of Government Technology Magazine. “New fiscal demands and shifting priorities require governments to collaborate on the development of new shared solutions.
