MTV and MTV.com announced today “@MTV Week,” a week filled with enhanced, interactive music programming, will kick off on March 6th. As part “@MTV Week,” each day there will be a featured artist appearing live at 4:30 PM (ET) in MTV’s Times Square Studio. During this show, mega-music artists Hanson, ‘NSYNC, The Smashing Pumpkins, AC/DC, and artists from the Ruff Ryders/Cash Money Millionaires Tour featuring Eve and Juvenile, will be in MTV’s Studio to talk with fans and perform live. Additionally, the artists will participate in a number of exclusive MTV.com activities.
Some of the MTV.com elements will include: never-before-seen, streamed video of ‘NSYNC; an exclusive live chat with Hanson; a private guitar lesson from legendary AC/DC guitarist Angus Young, which will have been auctioned off via eBay; the debut of an interactive music video directed by the Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan; and more.
Additionally, each day during “@MTV Week,” MTV.com users will have the chance to program over five and a half hours a day of their favorite music video blocks during “Request @MTV.” Users will program some of MTV’s most popular shows including, “Hot Zone,” “Beat Suite,” and “MTV Jams.”

Each day, MTV.com users will be able to vote for one of the songs they’d like to hear the artist perform. The show schedules and online components are as follows:
Monday, March 6th – “hanson@mtv” – Hanson will perform live in MTV’s Time Square studio and chat with fans about their second album “This Time Around,” which will be released on May 9th on Island Records. Following their in-studio appearance, the brothers will chat live on MTV.com preview tracks from their upcoming album for online fans.
Tuesday, March 7th – “ruffryders/cashmoney@mtv” – these rap artists which will include Eve, The Lox and the Hot Boys, will take a break from their current tour to perform for fans in MTV’s Studio. MTV.com component to be announced.
Wednesday, March 8th – “‘nsync@mtv” – pop sensation ‘NSYNC will perform a song from their upcoming album “No Strings Attached,” which is slated for a March 21 release. MTV will preview an exclusive clip from the band’s home video collection during the live show and online users can stream a fuller portion of the never-before-seen home video on MTV.com.
Thursday, March 9th – “thesmashingpumpkins@mtv” – Grammy-award winning artists, the Smashing Pumpkins, will perform a song from their next album “MACHINA/the machines of God,” which is due out on February 29th. During the live show, MTV will premiere MTV.com’s first ever interactive music video — “The Crying Tree of Mercury” directed by Billy Corgan. The video will be available to online users throughout the week.
Friday, March 10th – “ac/dc@mtv” – for the first time in almost 20 years, one of rock’s most revered bands, AC/DC will make a rare television appearance and perform live on MTV. This will be the band’s first U.S. television performance featuring singer Brian Johnson. “Stiff Upper Lip” will be released by Elektra Records on February 29. During this show, MTV will bring out the eBay bidder, who will receive a private guitar lesson from AC/DC guitarist Angus Young and for those fans who couldn’t afford the private lesson, MTV.com will give online users the chance to learn several classic AC/DC songs.
MTV 2, MTV’s sister channel, will also take part in @MTV Week’s convergent television and online music experience. March 6-10, MTV 2 will take an hour break each day at 10 AM and 10 PM (ET/PT) from its “A – Z” music video countdown to present a special block of music with an online component. Viewers who tune in to see MTV 2’s freeform music mix will also be directed to the channel’s area on MTV.com to sample audio downloads and video streams of live performances from the artists whose video they just watched. Online users will find video streams of live performances from Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Fiona Apple, Oasis, Blur and many other artists. Audio downloads featured during the week include Buckcherry, Pink, Powerman 5000, Kittie, Freestylers and many others.
