BELLEVUE, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 26, 2004
With this Acquisition, Knowledge Anywhere Professional Services
Team Will Provide Clients with Contracted Employees That Have Skills
Specific to the E-Learning Industry
As part of its strategic growth strategy, Knowledge Anywhere, Inc., a leading provider of custom e-learning and blended learning solutions, today announced that it will acquire Sum Total Systems’ (formerly Click2Learn) placement services business. Specifically, Knowledge Anywhere is acquiring SumTotal System’s current client list, its database of contracted employees, its office space in Fort Worth, TX and related personal property.
By acquiring this business, Knowledge Anywhere will expand its services to provide clients with contracted employees skilled in developing custom courseware, including instructional designers, project managers and course content authors. According to Charlie Gillette, president and chief executive officer of Knowledge Anywhere, “The acquisition of this business is a superb addition to Knowledge Anywhere’s portfolio of professional service offerings. The professional services team focuses on helping customers identify learning objectives, develop a scope of work for their initiatives, determine the correct investment for projects and establish the appropriate metrics for evaluating return on investment.”
Gillette adds that, “Combining this with our existing portfolio significantly enhances our ability to deliver strategic services to clients large and small throughout the U.S. and world.”
Current clients of SumTotal Systems’ Placement Business include: Sterling Commerce, Marconi Communications, Wells Fargo, Burlington Northern and Santa Fe and Microsoft Corp. The Placement Business team has been in existence for 16 years and has served more than 500 companies.
Jeanine Kern, the newly appointed director of this business for Knowledge Anywhere agrees that placement capabilities are a natural extension to the breadth of services that e-learning and blended learning companies can provide.
Kern explains, “The market for services that reduce the cost of developing e-learning solutions for large and medium organizations is growing rapidly. The acquisition of these assets should be extremely helpful as Knowledge Anywhere strives to bring cost effective e-learning and blended learning solutions to a variety of companies.”
The transaction between the two companies closed on April 19, 2004.
“As more enterprises realize the mission critical impact of learning on their business performance and bottom-line results, there is a strong need for experienced instructional designers and content authors to provide compelling training content and information to organizations,” said Paul St. Pierre, senior manager, corporate services at SumTotal Systems. “We are pleased that Knowledge Anywhere will be continuing the solid track record SumTotal Systems has had in placing these types of skilled employees to support organizational learning initiatives and customer success.”
