ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 3, 2000
Collaborative Supplier Enablement Solution Provides Online Ordering
and Design Capabilities
NetVendor(TM), the leading provider of Internet software and services for collaborative business-to-business (B2B) supplier enablement, today announced that Eaton Corporation, the leading manufacturer of precision-engineered products for the aerospace industry, has selected NetVendor to launch its first e-commerce initiative with a Web-based solution to support the design and sales of the company’s complex product offerings.
NetVendor’s E.MBRACE technology will be implemented at all of Eaton’s facilities to provide an online ordering system for its network of 23 distributors nationwide. Offering 24-hour access to Eaton’s products and services, distributors can communicate design specifications, place orders, receive pricing information and delivery timetables, and more – online, in real-time. Customizable interfaces, simple navigation, configure-to-order, design-to-order, and advanced search capabilities make it easy and convenient to do business.
“As Eaton’s product line became more complex, it became necessary to expand the capabilities of our distribution ordering system,” said Rick Miller, Eaton’s director of information technology. “NetVendor’s solution quickly and seamlessly provided a full range of capabilities, including computer aided design (CAD) that empower us to excel in today’s highly competitive market.”
With sales in excess of $500 million annually, Eaton Aerospace is a leader in hydraulic, electro-hydraulic pump and generator products and integrated systems; electric motors; aircraft flap and slat systems; nose wheel steering systems; cockpit controls; power and load management systems; sensors; and fluid debris monitoring products. Eaton Aerospace serves commercial and military aviation, aerospace, military weapon, marine and off-road markets worldwide.
“NetVendor’s E.MBRACE was able to provide Eaton with a flexible solution to accommodate the unique and complex requirements of the aerospace industry,” said Steve Ely, NetVendor’s chief operating officer. “NetVendor’s configuration capabilities and implementation support, as well as its ability to easily integrate into legacy back-end systems were crucial components to helping Eaton achieve its e-commerce objectives.”
