DentiCare of California has teamed with the Anaheim city school district in bringing dental education to the schools. As part of the P.E.A.K. (Prevention Education Against Kavities) community outreach program, DentiCare’s chief dental officer will provide an education presentation, toothbrushes and visual exams to first and second grade children in selected schools. With the help of the school district, P.E.A.K. targets schools in areas that have high dental referral rates.
The P.E.A.K. program is headed by DentiCare’s chief dental officer, Ivan Berger, D.D.S., M.A.G.D. According to Dr. Berger, “Oral health has a significant impact on overall health, and prevention is the key to both. This program allows us to provide prevention education to these children in an effort to encourage effective dental care habits at an early age.”
Last year California experienced over 50 million lost student school hours due to dental health reasons. Through prevention and education the goal is that students will remain healthier and more focused in the classroom.
The first three P.E.A.K. presentations are scheduled at the following Anaheim schools: Sunkist Elementary on August 14, Franklin Elementary on August 24, and Revere Elementary on September 6.
