SALEM, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 30, 2003

More than three hundred years after the legendary Salem Witch trials, Ben & Jerry’s is bringing a new ‘WICH to town. Today, hundreds of Salem residents and visitors came out to Salem’s Common to try a new kind of ‘WICH. And this time around, the Salem ‘WICH trials brought nothing but smiles.

This ‘WICH is Ben & Jerry’s first-ever ice cream cookie sandwich. Rich vanilla fudge chip ice cream is sandwiched between two soft, chewy, fudge-swirled chocolate chunk cookies. These new Ben & Jerry’s ‘WICHES are so good, they are causing a new wave of hysteria in Salem.

“The residents of Salem take great pride in our Halloween festivities and our city’s rich history. We’re thrilled that this year’s Haunted Happenings will include Ben & Jerry’s Salem ‘WICH trials,” said Mayor Stanley J. Usovicz, Jr. “Only Ben & Jerry’s could fly into Salem during October and add to our festivities in such a fun and delicious way. Come on down to Salem this Halloween and try a ‘WICH for yourself!”

The fun continues tomorrow with a second day of the Salem ‘WICH Trials. The trials will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Salem’s Common as part of the town’s annual Haunted Happenings.

Salem is one of six cities selected to get a sneak preview of the ‘WICH before Ben & Jerry’s launches the product nationally next year.
