Amicus Networks Takes Lead in Broker-Dealer Extended Intranet Market

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 14, 1997–

Amicus Launches Three Broker-Dealer Extended Intranets

Amicus Networks Inc., a leading provider of Extended Intranets to the financial services industry, announced Monday that it has launched secure Extended Intranets for three new clients, all top-tier independent broker-dealers.

The broker-dealers – Capital Analysts Inc., IFG Network Securities Inc. (IFG), and The Advisors Group (TAG) – are among the 30 largest independent broker-dealers having more than 300 Reps.

With the addition of these clients, Amicus now holds a 20 percent market share of the top independent broker-dealers. Amicus also developed and supports the International Association for Financial Planning’s (IAFP) Extended Intranet. IAFP is the industry association for financial planners.

An Extended Intranet, or Extranet, is a secure Intranet that is made accessible to trading partners and associates via the Internet. Broker-dealers are using Amicus Extended Intranets to provide home-office associates and independent field Reps access from the World Wide Web to a variety of corporate information and business systems.

Amicus Extended Intranets are secure and require a log-on ID and password to enter from the public Internet. Once a registered associate is validated and admitted to the secure Extended Intranet, Amicus’ group-level security determines what an associate may access within the Extended Intranet.

“Capital Analysts, IFG, and TAG field Reps now have easy access to corporate marketing information, research databases, and trading applications. They have new collaborative work tools with Tool Belt, our Extended Intranet product,” said Dennis Passovoy, president and chief executive officer of Amicus Networks.

“The bottom-line is these broker-dealers are providing better and real value-added services to their network of business partners, all at greatly reduced cost compared to paper, fax, or other traditional distribution methods.”

Amicus Extended Intranets for broker-dealers, built and managed with Amicus’ award-winning Tool Belt(R) software, include a comprehensive set of integrated capabilities including: conferencing, messaging, financial product research resources, news-feeds and quote services, compliance tracking and reporting, online commission reporting, database search, and online forms capabilities.

Amicus Extended Intranet sites also support a wide range of advanced communications and electronic commerce applications.
