3M Announces Category 6 Cabling System Offering

AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 19, 2002

3M has expanded its Volition brand cabling offering with a Volition Category 6 Cabling System. The system is based on 3M’s unique K6 RJ45 jack, which provides hardware performance consistent with the latest international cabling standards ISO/IEC 11801, EN 50173 and EIA/TIA 568. Currently, most Class E/Category 6 link performance components do not meet all of those standards.

The 3M Volition Category 6 system from the 3M Telecom Enterprise Department offers installers easier and faster termination installations due to the tool-free technology provided by the 3M RJ45 K6 jack connector. The connector offers a high level of performance and reliability resulting in a significant component and link headroom versus the standard. The Volition RJ45 K6 jack comes as part of a total Category 6 structured cabling solution that includes an extended 20-year system warranty.
