1st Barrett-Jackson Edition Lotus Elise to Be Auctioned In Scottsdale
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A special 2005 Lotus Elise created for the Barrett-Jackson Auction will be unveiled at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on January 5, 2005. This “Barrett Jackson” edition Elise will be auctioned at no reserve during the 34th Annual Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction scheduled for Jan. 25 – Jan. 30 at WestWorld in Scottsdale.
“The Lotus Elise is one of the most exciting and desirable sports cars in the world,” said Craig Jackson, president of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “We’re honored that Lotus and US dealer Park Place would create a one-off ‘Barrett-Jackson’ edition. With the 2005 Lotus offered at no reserve, this is a chance for someone languishing on a waiting list to instantly own an Elise.”
The 190bhp Elise is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox inside a chassis made of bonded and extruded aluminum. Weighing less than 2,000 pounds, the Elise zips from 0 to 60 MPH in under five seconds. MSRP for an Elise begins at $40,930; the Barrett-Jackson Edition model includes a special interior, graphics, speed gear and other amenities.
“Lotus has a reputation for creating memorable sports cars,” added Butch Brockmier, partner at Park Place Ltd. “As the first all-new Lotus for the U.S. in nearly 15 years, the two-seat convertible is a tour de force of engineering and design. The Elise shattered sales expectations and commands waiting lists of over a year.”
The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 26 to Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, with the new Gala night taking place Jan. 25, at WestWorld in Scottsdale. This year’s banner event will include 900+ quality collector cars offered at no reserve, an additional fifth auction day along with new activities, a luxury lifestyle pavilion and a host of celebrities.
