AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Australian carrier Qantas Airways has announced that it plans to resume service between Sydney, Australia, and Beijing, China.
Beginning in January 2006 Qantas will offer three flights a week to Beijing, but the airline plans to increase the frequency to daily flights by 2008, the year of the summer Olympic Games in Beijing.
In addition the carrier plans to increase the frequency of its Sydney to Shanghai service from the current three flights a week to four in November, and to daily within two years.
The increase in the number of travellers between the two countries is a result of the growing trade relations between Australia and China and increasing demand for leisure travel, said the executive general manager of Qantas.
