Continental Airlines revises policy on mobile phone use

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Continental Airlines has reportedly revised its policy on mobile telephone use, with changes effective immediately.

Under the new policy, passengers will be able to use mobile phones shortly after landing while the aircraft is taxiing to the gate. Previously, phone use was restricted until the aircraft door opened at the arrival gate. This increase in “talk time” is expected to be beneficial to passengers.

The carrier’s policy on telephone use at departure remains unchanged, while the use of mobile phones is not allowed during flight.
