Abusive passenger ordered to pay Singapore Airlines AUD13,792

A Singapore Airlines passenger has been ordered to pay the carrier AUD13,792 after forcing a flight to be diverted.

The 41-year-old is said to have prompted the flight from Singapore to Brisbane, Australia to make an unscheduled landing in Darwin, Australia after he became abusive. The man pleaded guilty last month to offensive behaviour.

The unemployed man was also fined AUD750 following the diversion of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft, reported The Associated Press.
