Dow Chemical, Sumitomo Rubber To Jointly Develop Run-Flat Tire – Brief Article

Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. and Dow Chemical Japan Ltd. said they have agreed to jointly develop polyurethane support rings for an advanced run-flat tire system. The “PAX System,” which allows a vehicle to run on a flat tire safely for up to 120 miles, was developed by Michelin SCA in 1997.

The agreement was signed by Sumitomo Rubber and Dow Polyurethanes Japan Ltd., a 100 percent unit of Dow Chemical Japan, they said. Dow Chemical Japan is a wholly-owned unit of Dow Chemical Co. of the U.S.
