DaimlerChrysler Selects Covisint For Supplier Network – Brief Article

DaimlerChrysler AG said it has selected Covisint to develop and host the company’s new, global portal. This will be the next generation of the company’s supplier portal solutions. The portal will provide access to OEM and supplier applications as well as Covisint tools worldwide via one common framework, based upon input from DaimlerChrysler and its suppliers, the company said.

“We anticipate that our supply partners and ultimately our customers will benefit from the elimination of time-consuming, cumbersome and expensive web applications that do not interface with each other,” stated Gary Valade, Executive Vice President and Member of the Board of Management for DaimlerChrysler AG.

DaimlerChrysler expects many benefits from the creation of a global supplier portal, including: Major improvements in its OEM-to-supplier and supplier-to-supplier communications worldwide

“We view this project as another step towards a common B-to-B infrastructure for the auto industry and a role model for other manufacturing industries,” said Kevin English, Chairman, CEO and President of Covisint.
