Lita Branda & Melcochita Present The First Family of Salsa – Reseña de audio grabación
LITA BRANDA & MELCOCHITA PRESENT The First Family of Salsa (Lita Branda Prod.)
Peruvian veteran vocalist Melcochita joins sister Lita Branda and other members of the Branda clan in this new recording titled The First Family of Salsa. Producer Branda, who’s been baptized “The Queen of Son Montuno” by her European fans, summoned the talents of her family members Mario. Cheverin, Nina, Lucho Michael and Lina de Lima Branda (the famous Italian entertainer) to make this a family affair.
Although the unmistakable and unique vocal sounds of Melcochita prevail throughout most of the recording, Carmen Branda joins him in the selection Mis Raices, which rocks from beginning to end. Cheverin Branda heads the lead vocals on the track Rosa, while Nina takes the lead on the composition Pena and Lita Branda is featured on the closing track, Mi Bongó En La Habana.
The opening track Con Azúcar Para Celia (composed by Branda and Melcochita) pays tribute to the recently departed and close friend of the Branda family, Celia Cruz (The Queen of Salsa). The track is a smoker and extremely dance friendly, Radio and club DJs are going to love this and several other tracks for the dynamic arrangements and old school swing. Oscar Pitin Sánchez is the musical director of the project, with Davis Barreto on piano, Oswaldo Mita Barreto on tres, and Oscar Huaranga on bass. All percussions instruments and vocals are performed by Melcochita and the Branda family, with Michael Branda featured on flute.
