Printmaker introduces `Giclees By The Roll’ program – news – Brief Article
COEUR D’A ALENE, Idaho–Originals Digital Color has introduced a new program providing discounts for artists and photographers who reproduce their work digitally as giclee prints. Named “Giclee’s By The Roll,” the new service was developed for those seeking volume print runs, and basically consists of the loading and continuous printing of one or more complete rolls of canvas, watercolor paper or poster paper.
According to Originals’ owner Chris Gibbs, “When an artist releases a limited-edition giclee, edition sizes typically range from 50 to 500. Our Giclee’s By The Roll program makes it economically feasible to print the edition all at once. We provide maximum discounts, and the more rolls you order, the more you save.”
The number of prints obtained from a roll of media is determined by print size and the length and width of the roll of media. Certain types of canvas and watercolor papers may be available only in 36-inch widths, while others can be found up to 60 inches wide. Roll length typically ranges from 33 feet to 100 feet.
Gibbs stated, “Giclee’s By The Roll is ideal for anyone needing lots of giclee prints quickly and affordably, including producing artists, publishers, interior designers, art galleries and frame shops. So far, the program has been well received by customers.”
In 1996, Originals Digital Color was one of the world’s first giclee printmakers to offer eight-color digital printing technology and is now recognized as a leading giclee printer with a loyal international customer base, according to company officials.
