Philippa Katz joins Porter Design USA – news – Brief Article
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Philippa Katz has joined Porter Design USA, bringing with her more than 25 years of experience in the print and poster market.
Katz, a native of England, was educated in England, France and Italy. She lived in Italy for almost 20 years, first working for a gallery and printmakers’ workshop in Florence, where she collaborated with artists such as Henry Moore. In 1977, she founded Migneco & Smith with her partner, and sold the company to him when she left Italy for the United States in 1989. She started Rose Selavy USA Inc., a company that specialized in reproducing antique botanical prints, and later sold the company to Manchester, Vt.-based Applejack Art Partners. During the past several years, Katz has recruited artists for Bruce McGaw Graphics as its acquisitions manager, and later worked as a consultant to Applejack Art Partners.
“Working with Porter Design is perfect for me,” Katz said. “I love their publications and product. Having dealt in rare books and prints for many years, I have a real affinity for antique prints, as well as a well-trained eye for modern trends, and I’m very much looking forward to helping Porter Design with their new editions and with U.S. sales and marketing.”
