Mumford gallery hosts exhibit of works by Rosie – news – Brief Article
PROVINCETOWN, Mass. — Comedian, actress and former talk-show host Rosie O’Donnell has ventured into new creative territory, this time as an artist. An exhibition of about 20 of her abstract collages and oil paintings opened at the Mumford Gallery here in June. All proceeds from the sale of her art will be donated to charity.
O’Donnell began painting the exhibited works the day after Sept. 11, 2001. O’Donnell, who owns works by Andy Warhol and Keith Hating, purchased a piece by Gregory Mumford from the gallery last fall. Mumford later visited O’ Donnell’s studio and persuaded her to show her work at his gallery.
“I think the public will be impressed with the quality of Rosie’s work and the eloquent expression of feelings that comes across on the canvas,” said gallery director Mary Mumford.”Even if her name weren’t Rosie O’Don nell, I believe her work would still be in demand by galleries across the country.” For additional information about this exhibit, visit www.mumfordgallery.com.
